Unloading of locomotive engines for the new train in Uruguay

The 7 locomotives for transporting UPM’s cellulose from Paso de los Toros plant to the Port of Montevideo have arrived in Uruguay. This railway service will be operated by the DBCC Transport consortium, formed by Christophersen (CHR Group Uruguay), Grupo Azvi’s Concessions Company (Spain), Cointer along with Deutsche Bahn International Operation (Germany).

These are the most modern locomotives in Latin America, meeting the highest environmental standards. At the beginning of these operations, each locomotive will cover nearly 120,000 km during its first year. The Stadler EURO4001 locomotives are 6-axle diesel locomotives with state-of-the-art engines, primarily used in freight transport offering numerous economic and environmental benefits to the operator. Powerful, reliable, and cleaner, they comply with the latest European emission standards (EU Stage V) significantly reducing emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases. They are designed to be highly fuel and energy-efficient. They were manufactured in Valencia and arrived in Uruguay.
